Apple Characters are compressed in Papyrus 12

I have many documents written in Papyrus Author, mostly using Apple fonts such as New York or SF Pro.

When I open them in Papyrus 12 the characters in each word are badly compressed, making them almost unreadable.

Is there a way to import my Papyrus Author documents so that they remain readable?

Hi @brian ,
can you send me one of these documents to hello@papyrus.de please, then we can check out what’s happening.

Thanks Leon,

Here’s a very short document.

Kind regards,

Brian

Dear Leon,

Any updates please, or suggestions as to what I can do to get back to normal character spacing?

Kind regards,

Brian

We’re working on a fix right now. Papyrus 12 will soon support variable fonts. In the meantime, any font that’s not variable like the one’s you’ve been using should work fine.

It’s very satisfying that Papyrus 12.02g now supports variable fonts. Papyrus has always had outstanding control over fonts and it was possible to print exactly what was on the screen.

I first came upon Paprus when it was the best word-processor for IBM’s OS/2 Warp in the late 90s. It has of course developed into the current amazing authors’ tool.
