I’m having trouble with macros while using Papyrus and was hoping someone might have a fix. I use a Logitech G915 keyboard and have macros set up for special characters since I type in multiple languages. These work perfectly fine in Word, Google Docs, and other writing programs, but for some reason, they aren’t functioning properly in Papyrus.
The issue: Only one macro works at a time, specifically the first key I type. If I need to use a different macro, I have to switch to another program, then return to Papyrus—every single time. It’s frustrating and really slows down my workflow. My keyboard software is fully updated, so I’m not sure what’s causing this.
Has anyone else run into this issue, or does anyone know a fix? I’d appreciate any suggestions!
I also use a Logitech G903 mouse, and G4/G5 work fine for copy/paste. However, my G7 key (assigned to em dash) has the same issue as the keyboard macros.
The macros were created using Character Map—could that be causing the problem?
Thank you for taking the time to help with this.
I did some digging, and here’s what I found on Logitech’s side that might help:
Make sure Papyrus and Logitech G HUB are running with the same permission level (either both as admin or both not) – apparently mismatched permissions can cause problems:
Delays can also make a difference. When creating macros, G HUB has “Use Standard Delays” checked by default, but bumping up the delay a bit could help with reliability. The article’s a bit dated, but the idea still holds up:
Unfortunately, that didn’t help, but I reset the macros I could using the Alt codes instead of the Character Map, and they now function properly. However, any macros that require Unicode input still don’t work.
I really appreciate you taking the time to help, though—thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to troubleshoot this—I really appreciate it!
To clarify, copying and pasting directly from the character map into Papyrus works fine. However, when using the Alt codes for the macros, they sometimes produce the correct character, but more often, they just type out the code instead. I believe this issue is specifically tied to G Hub.
Additionally, for the flat tones and the falling/rising tones that use Unicode, they don’t appear in Papyrus at all unless I copy and paste them or toggle back and forth between Papyrus and G Hub. Those particular characters were copied from the character map into the macro since Unicode doesn’t seem to register in Papyrus.
I couldn’t find anything on Logitech’s side that would help us get further with this—G HUB doesn’t offer any more extra settings or customization to try out.
You could try creating the missing macros directly in Papyrus instead. Just go to Edit → Text Macros and set them up there.
