Not including chapter header in "word count"

Mac OS - Pro Version

I’ve tried searching for this and couldn’t find anything on it, but I’m new and there is an overwhelming amount of info to sort through. But my biggest immediate concern is this: I don’t like to include the chapter headers (i.e. Chapter 1) or the title page in my overall word count. It inflates it and throws me off my targets. I know you can view per chapter, but that still gives you the chapter header into the count.

Is there a way to make the word count reflect only the body text?

At the moment, no, there is no option to exclude chapter titles from the word count.

If there’s more interest in this feature, we could look into adding it :grinning:

I do hope this becomes something to look at later. I’ll just have to make note of the words I need to subtract for now.

I have the Windows version and would love this feature.

I’m interested. I also would like to exclude chapter numbers from word count. Also, consider excluding ghost text from word count also.

The Ghost text is excluded from the word count (except for the chapter title).

Before the chapter was changed to Ghost text:
