Update to Papyrus 12.05d
Hello Papyrus Authors,
This update builds on top of the 2026 Spring Update. The previous update introduced an itsy-bitsy bug in the PDF export — we took that as an opportunity to significantly improve the PDF export overall.
Your Papyrus 12 will automatically offer you the update the next time you launch it. If you’d like to download the update manually, you’ll find the new version under Downloads in your account area .
Improvements
Performance
- The installation process on Windows is now more resilient against interference during installation, which should result in fewer “Side-by-Side Configuration” errors.
- The “File Browser” button under “My Files” in the Start Screen now allows interaction with all Papyrus-supported file formats by default, instead of just .pap files. Now you can comfortably open a database or a .docx file from here.
Fonts and PDF
- Kerning has been optimized. All fonts, ligatures, and rare letter combinations should now render cleanly and correctly.
- Improved identification of complete font sets, resulting in fewer missing characters. Missing characters would otherwise appear as garbled text in the PDF.
- Emoji fonts from both macOS and Windows are now better supported. Emojis can be interacted with like regular characters — including improved copy & paste behavior for glyphs.
- Bold and italic text styles are now carried over into the PDF even for fonts that don’t natively support them.
- The font cache now loads the current font more reliably, reducing mix-ups between fonts.
- Fixed a PDF metadata issue that added one hour to the PDF’s creation timestamp.
- The “Get missing characters from other fonts” setting — which ensures all characters remain usable and visible even with incomplete fonts — is now also applied when exporting to PDF.
Bug Fixes
- In Story and Character Sheets, text selection is no longer lost when right-clicking or using the text style icons.
