Need help. I just tried to fire up the program and it suddenly takes me to a log in.

Why do I have to log in now when I didn’t a few days ago?

Hi!
Is your computer connected to the internet?
Papyrus needs a second or two online every few weeks to check for updates and authentication. Once that’s done, it works offline again like usual.
A shared hotspot from your phone will be enough.
If your computer’s connected to the internet and you’re getting an error message, it could be your antivirus or firewall. If you let me know what kind of setup, operating system and antivirus/firewall, you’re running I can try look up what could be the culprit.
I’m currently connected to the internet and I fired it up 2 days ago with no issues.
But why do I have to be connected? I thought this was a stand alone program.
It’s asking me to log in and then I’m getting a server error.
Currently there’s a major service outage on Cloudflare which Papyrus relies on and which is the cause of the login problems.
See this post (in German) on the German user forum:
Thanks for that input, glucose.
I was getting a server error when attempting to even change my password.
Sam,
Cloudflare is down and cannot log in.
So my next question is: is there a work-around so I can get back to my work?
There needs to be a way to write if the server goes down. A local copy. This is crazy.
I still can’t log in.
Thank you, glucose
As glucose mentioned, it was a global Cloudflare outage. Things are coming back online now, so login should work soon, if not already.
Sorry for the delay!
Papyrus should run offline during an outage, too. An edge case caused some accounts to be logged out. We already have a plan in place to improve this for the future.
I’m looking at the German community. They are able to log on.
It’s now telling me my password is incorrect. I choose “forgot my password” and get an email from you with a link which takes me to the same reset password page. Like an endless loop.
Very frustrating.
This was a really bad one: Google and Cloudflare both suffer wide outages today, and so we have an unfavorable planetary alignment like you only see in a hundred years. Both our primary and secondary servers were impacted.
If you are in the US-central region, please give it a few more minutes. All other regions should be back to full service. Sorry and thank you for your patience! We won’t rest until everything is running at 100%.
Thanks again. It insisted on a new password and I managed to get in.
