Scene breaks at bottom of page

Is there a mark I can use (e.g. “*” to indicate the end of one scene and the beginning of another, if one scene ends one line short at the bottom of a page?

Hi @ThomDuncan ,

as far as I know, there is no set feature in Papyrus that does that, but you have a couple of options.

One is to use text macros:

  1. Open Options → Text Macros…
  2. Click New Macro
  3. In the text field Shortcut insert a (set of) character(s) that will activate your macro (for example scene+)
  4. In the text field Text insert a text you want displayed (for example ***)
  5. Choose Direct Call
  6. Click Apply

Another option is to create a paragraph style:

  1. In your top menu choose Paragraph → Styles…
  2. Click New
  3. Name your new style in the adjacent text field (for example scene break)
  4. Choose the tab Enumeration/Table of contents
  5. In the text field Format description insert symbols or characters you want displayed (for example ***)
  6. Click Apply

Notice that if you choose a different font or background color for the scene break, it might get lost in the e-book conversion because readers can choose their own fonts and color schemes on their device.
