Hi there, I am using a really old laptop that’s using windows 8 I. I have been able to use Papyrus until this recent update, (12, I believe). I tried reinstalling it several times and every time it comes up with an error when I try to boot it up. I looked it up and I found on a forum that I was missing a graphics driver or something but it can only be used on windows 10 or higher, which my laptop is incompatible with. So my question is can I still somehow run the latest version on this laptop? Or is there a way for me to convert the .pap files to pdfs? Or should I just get a newer laptop lol?
Hi, welcome to the Community!
Yep. Microsoft has stopped supporting Windows 8.1, and I think the component that’s stopping Papyrus from running is DirectX, a set of graphics-related system tools that just doesn’t get updated anymore on Windows 8.1.
Since that support isn’t there at the OS level, there’s no workaround I can safely recommend.
I’ve reached out with a private message for the next steps with your projects. No worries, your work from is safely stored on your computer’s hard drive, not inside the app.
Honestly… not a bad move! Staying on a supported operating system is a good idea, especially for security updates.
