I’ve been using the free version of Papyrus Author for quite a while and done a significant amount of work with it because I can’t afford o get any paid writing software, and the features available even in the free version were far superior to any other free software. However, it seems that, with the release of Papyrus 12, there is no longer a free version available for us broke folk. I now find myself in a position where I have a large number of works stored as Papyrus Author files but unable to afford Papyrus Author to access and work with them further. Additionally, when I try to open them in the lesser free software I am now forced to use, all I get is an indecipherable jumble of strange characters. I would very much LIKE to continue using Papyrus Author, but I am disabled and have no income so purchasing the software is simply beyond me, so I need to know how I can access and work with the files I created during my use of Papyrus Author, or alternatively, how to convert those Papyrus Author files to a file type that the free software I must now use can properly access. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The free Launch Trial of Papyrus 12 continues until April 20th. Make a Papyrus 12 account and export ALL your work to .docx or another useful format.
They said there will no longer be a free version. Only a 7 day trial for new users after April 20th 2025.
I suggest you switch to something like Google Docs or Libre Office which require no financial outlay.
