How to Create Parts For Existing Chapters?

Hey there,

I was wondering how to add parts to my draft right now. I’m hoping to add three parts, with roughly ten chapters in each. How do I do this?

Welcome to the Community! :sunflower:

Sounds excellent! For parts, we’ll just have to tell Papyrus Author there’s a hierarchy where chapters fall under parts, and you’re good to go. :man_construction_worker: :wrench:

It’s just a few clicks, and you’ll find a video of the steps below.

Here’s how:

  1. Make a new heading, and name it “Part 1”

  2. Click on the A-icon on the top-left of your toolbar to open Text Styles.

  3. To make a new style, click “New”, and give it a name (for example “Parts”).

  4. Change to the “Enumeration/Table of Contents” tab, and change the “Hierarchy Level” to 1 (Chapter).

→ Now you have the highest hierarchy style for Parts. Next we just need a new heading style that’s a level below Parts:

  1. Make a new heading, and name it “Chapter 1”.

  2. Click on the A-icon on the top-left of your toolbar to open Text Styles.

  3. Click “New”, and give it a name (for example “Chapters”).

  4. Change to the “Enumeration/Table of Contents” tab, and change the “Hierarchy Level” to 2 (Sections).

→ Now the chapters will fall under the parts, and the final result looks like this:

Let me know how it goes, and have fun with Papyrus Author!
