Turning Tales: The Papyrus Author Writing Season, Fall 2022

Come on in. This is your writing room. There’s a hot cup of coffee just the way you like it and your notebook is warming your lap like a cat. Make yourself comfortable. Grab as much time as you can with both hands. :coffee:

We’ve come up with a little something:

Turning Tales, the very first Papyrus Author writing season.

10 topics, 10 weeks of writing together.

Every Tuesday at 10:00 am (ET) we'll post an inspiration in a dedicated thread in the forum. If it speaks to you, write a text-and win!

As short or long, raw or polished as you wish. Post it to said thread over the course of the week. Stay and react to what others have written.

Turning Tales starts on Tuesday, October 11th, and ends on Tuesday, December 20th, ten ideas later.

If you love someone’s text, let them know! Hit the like button.

:writing_hand: Contribute, and we’ll root for you! We’ll celebrate each week’s highest-rated creator with a full year of Papyrus Author+.

 Everyone has a chance to win: On top, we’ll give away another year of Papyrus Author+ to a random participant each week!

:stars: At the season’s conclusion, we’ll roll out the red carpet for the person who received the most Likes across the 10 topics. We‘ll proudly present him or her on our social media channels with links to their books and all!

:books: To level the playing field between those who post early and those who post later in the week, you will be able to like texts for another week after the submission deadline.

In Turning Tales, we want every one of you to find something that moves you forward.

One of these inspirations might help you through a tricky passage in your manuscript. You might find out what your main character is missing or stumble upon the ideal ending to your novel. You might create a sparkling miniature, a short story or even a trilogy. You have an idea, a community, a room of your own. Anything can happen.

Welcome. :house:

Summary:

  • 10 writing topics, 10 weeks: Every Tuesday begins a new round right here in the season forum.
  • Post a contribution into the active thread of the week!
  • After one week, the thread closes and a new one opens.
  • After a topic has been closed, you can still give Likes to contributions!
  • The contribution with the most Likes wins a year of Papyrus Author+! Enjoy it yourself or gift it to your favorite writer in need.
  • We’ll give away another year of Papyrus Author+ at random each week. Taking part is worth it!
  • At the end of each round, we’ll come together for a recap and discuss what moved us.
  • With the season’s conclusion, we’ll present the person with most likes in our social media, with links to their books.
  • Have fun!
Terms and Conditions
  1. Terms and Conditions
Eligible participants are entered into our writing season “Turning Tales” free of charge. The organizer is the Papyrus Author Team of Papyrus Author Inc. Participation is subject to the following conditions:

  2. Expiration
Entries can be submitted from 10/11/2022 10:00 am (ET) to 12/20/2022 10:00 am (ET). Submissions can be rated by other members of the community until 12/27/2022 10:00 am (ET).

The writing season will be divided into 10 independent entry weeks, each of which will be opened with a weekly theme by the Community Team. Each individual week’s competition can be won independently.

New entries participating in the sweepstakes can be posted in the weekly topic in the “Season: Turning Tales” category on Tuesdays starting at 10:00 am (ET) for one week at a time. Votes on the most popular entries will be counted for another week. So there is one week for the post and two weeks for the votes.

The last contributions are to be posted until 12/20/2022, 10:00 am (ET). The overall result will be determined on 12/27/2022.

  1. Participation
Participation in the writing season and the competition is done by posting entries that fit thematically to the weekly tasks. A free Papyrus Author account is required for participation.

Entry is possible only within the participation period, and must take place in the specially opened Community topics. Entries received after the deadline will not be considered for participation.

Only entries that fit the weekly theme will be counted. The Papyrus Author Team reserves the right to decide which entries fit the theme, and which do not.

Only one submitted entry per participant per week will be entered into the competition. It is not allowed to create multiple accounts to increase the chances of winning. Additional participation in the German writing season at community.papyrus.de is allowed.

Participation in the season, and weekly competitions is free of charge.

  1. Eligibility

Eligible participants are natural persons who are allowed to participate in sweepstakes and contests according to the local laws of their residence. We reserve the right to exclude entries from outside the United States, United Kingdom and European Union. Participation is not restricted to Papyrus Author customers and is not dependent on the purchase of any goods or services.

Should a participant be limited in his legal capacity, the consent of his legal representative is required.

Employees and family members of the Papyrus Autor team are excluded from winning. In addition, we reserve the right, at our own discretion, to exclude persons from participation if there are justified reasons, such as:

  • In case of manipulation in access or execution of the writing season.
  • In the event of violations of our conditions of participation.
  • In the case of unfair actions, such as submitting contributions not written by oneself, or
  • In case of incorrect information in connection with the participation.
  1. Winning, notification and transmission of the prize.

The following prizes will be awarded:

  1. Author Social Media Boost:

Presentation of the overall winner on Papyrus Author’s social media presence including ad boost of the post. The overall winner is determined by the most number of positive votes over the submitted posts for all 10 weeks.
2. 10x a year of Papyrus Author+, one for each weekly winner (most number of positive votes for that writing week).
3. 10x a year of Papyrus Author+, one each raffled among all participants of each writing week.
The 12 months of Papyrus Author+ can be received by yourself:

Or the prize can be given away to a writing-loving person of your choice!

The weekly winners will be determined one week after the closing date of the respective competition week, by a random drawing among all participants who have submitted an entry to the writing task of the week.

The overall winner will be determined on 12/27/2022 by counting the positive votes of all relevant entries and will be chosen during the week ending 12/31/2022.

If the overall winner does not wish to, or is unable to be featured on social media, the prize will fall to the runner-up.

The winners of the raffle will be informed of the prize via the Community message function, or via a separate email.

The prize will only be handed over digitally to the winner, or to the legal representative of a minor winner. Exchange, self-collection and cash payment of the prize are not possible.

If a winner does not respond after two requests within a period of 4 weeks, the prize can be transferred to another participant.

The overall winner must submit the graphics and texts necessary for the media presentation of the main winner within a period of 14 days. Faster is better

  1. Termination of the competition
We reserve the right to terminate the writing season prematurely without prior notice and without giving reasons, especially if a scheduled process is technically disrupted or prevented. There is no legal claim.

  2. Data protection
Participation in the competition requires the provision of personal data. The participant assures that the personal information contestants provide is correct. Our data protection regulations apply.

In case of winning the season, the winning participant agrees to the publication of their name, or pseudonym (please write it on the post!) and the Community post in the advertising media used by Papyrus Author Inc. This includes disclosure on our websites and social media platforms.

If you wish to withdraw your participation, write to us at support@papyrusauthor.com

The competition and participation in the writing season is subject exclusively to the laws of the United States of America. The legal process is excluded.

Have fun!

To paraphrase a certain wise wizard: You have arrived precisely when you were meant to, @reneeschnebelinbooks :mage:

Come on in, we are just getting started! The first prompt of the season will be going live today. And we have designed it so you still have time to participate, even if you don’t catch the prompt on the Tuesday release. So you’ll have to entire week to post it.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

I just saw this event on Facebook and am wondering the same. How does one sign up to participate and do we receive the prompts by email or only here on the site?

Welcome to the Community!

You’ll find the current prompt here: Turning Tales Week 3: Write What You See

And a new prompt is posted next Tuesday.
